The inscriptions mark the opening of the building of the first Bulgarian class school with the benevolence of the Ottoman government in the person of Sultan Abdul Aziz.
The building was built in 1868 and is the work of the Bratsigovo master-builder Todor Damov. The high gate was issued by a special irade, allowing the laying of the foundation stone. On the eastern corner, between Tsar Ivaylo and Todor Samodumov streets, original inscriptions in Bulgarian and Ottoman Turkish have been preserved, in which it is reported that the school was built in 1868 with the benevolence of Sultan Abdul Aziz Khan .
